Riverview

Designed and built by James Lull for Col. Charles McLaran, this stately Greek Revival showplace has identical facades facing 1st and 2nd Streets. The main hall staircase rises four floors to the cupola. The cupola features stained glass windows representing the four seasons. A wall was designed to raise to the second floor to increase the size of the dining room.

The Amzi Love Home

The Amzi Love Home

An Italianate structure with Gothic and Greek Revival features, Amzi Love is the only home on tour that has remained in the same family for seven generations. Many of the furnishings and artifacts are original to the house. Owner Sid Caradine is a direct descendant of Amzi Love. His wife, Mrs. Brenda Caradine, is a founder of the Tennessee Williams Tribute in Columbus.

Rosedale

Rosedale is regarded as Mississippi’s finest example of Italianate architecture. Built by Dr. William Topp, it was painstakingly and authentically restored by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Imes who purchased it in 1997. It features a superlative collection of wall coverings by Zuber and Scalamandre. Rosedale houses the largest collection of Rococo Revival furniture by John Henry Belter in the United States.

The premier experience of Spring Pilgrimage is enjoying daily tours of some of the most historically significant private homes in America. The Green Tour features Riverview, Amzi Love, and Rosedale. Soak up the atmosphere and architecture as homeowners and their friends enchant guests with the unique stories of these houses, including the fascinating history of those who lived and worked there.
