James W. Harris built the stately Greek Revival townhouse in 1843; his brother Jeptha V. Harris built nearby White Arches Whitehall was home to five generations of the Harris family. It was used as a hospital during the Civil War and a servicemen’s club during WWII. This impeccably restored home provides the perfect setting for the Boggess’ collection of 18th and 19th century antiques.

White Arches

Built by Jeptha Vining Harris, White Arches is a unique and elegant example of Greek Revival architecture enlivened by Gothic Revival and Italianate touches with delicate tracery. It features a central octagonal tower that rises three stories. White Arches has been called the finest example of the Columbus Eclectic Style. The beautiful walnut bookcases were added by the second owner Mr. J.O. Banks.

The premier experience of Spring Pilgrimage is enjoying daily tours of some of the most historically significant private homes in America. The Maroon Tour includes Whitehall, and White Arches. Soak up the atmosphere and architecture as homeowners and their friends enchant guests with the unique stories of these houses, including the fascinating history of those who lived and worked there.
